Homework Assignments

Tuesday and Thursday night Writing Homework
Mon, 10/18/2010 (All day) - Thu, 06/09/2011 (All day)

Every Tuesday and Thursday, your child will come home with a piece of paper with words on it.  It is my expectation that on Tuesdays, your child will practice writing these words 10 times each, and on Thursdays, that your child will use each of these words in a complete sentence.

Reading Flash Cards
Mon, 10/18/2010 (All day) - Thu, 06/09/2011 (All day)

Every night, your child is expected to practice their reading flash cards.  These are the sight words they are tested on during school.  As soon as they master one set of flash cards, you will see another set come home.  Once they have completed mastered all of the flash cards for the year, the expectation will be that they learn how to correctly spell all of the flash card...

Math Flashcards
Mon, 10/18/2010 (All day) - Thu, 06/09/2011 (All day)

Twice every night, your child is expected to practice the addition flash cards that were sent home. This will help them become faster at answering these simple addition problems so more difficult addtion problems will come easier to them.

Math Worksheets
Mon, 10/18/2010 (All day) - Thu, 06/09/2011 (All day)

Approximately 2 times every week, you will see a math worksheet coming home.  The worksheets will have skills that your child is currently working on in the classroom.  They are to provide extra practice for your child.

Read for 30 minutes EVERY NIGHT!
Mon, 10/18/2010 (All day) - Thu, 06/09/2011 (All day)

Read for 30 minutes every night

Each night, students in my class are expected to read for at least 30 minutes.  They should be reading the books they check out from our library in addition to their own books at home.  The books from the library should be at their level so they can read them on their own.  Other times, students need to be read to and read

I am teaching because I have a passion for helping students be the best they can be.  I love teaching first grade!  Watching the students' world expand as they learn to read is wonderful!  I love to be a part of that!

Currently, I contribute to the Noble Academy community by doing my best to communicate regularly with parents and families, participating in cultural activities around the community, and collaborating with staff to create a school environment where students are respected, and are given instruction at their level.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to read! If you come in my classroom, don't be surprised to see a book in my hand!  I also love to learn new things, specifically new technologies.  I also spend a lot of time with my family!  My family's cabin is my favorite place to stay for a summer vacation!
