Invention Convention
Wednesday, March 6, 2013 - 3:46pm
Our students have been hard at work creating their inventions. They have been writing scientific reports as well as doing a lot of research. I am very proud of all of our students they did a great job and they were able to show off their hard work at the convention we held in the classroom. I have added a new post to our science blog, please take a look when you get a moment and ask your child what they learned and what they enjoyed about this project! http://mshermanscienceclass.blogspot.com/...

Big Dreams for Middle School Science
Monday, October 8, 2012 - 5:21pm
Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year. This is my first year teaching middle school science and I have big dreams for us. We are building a foundation for great things to happen in our classroom, I can tell that there is a little scientist in each student who can’t wait to show me what they know. The vision I have for us… I envision a classroom in which students are able to freely make mistakes. I envision a classroom where there is excitement and fun with learning. I envision a classroom in...

I became a teacher for one simple reason, I couldn’t think of a better job! I not only enjoy working with children but I also love the challenges that come with being a teacher. I learn just as much if not even more than my students. I hope to challenge my students to try new things, take some risk, and take pride in all that they know.

I have been teaching for ten years in with students varying in age, learning abilities, and cultures. I have had many rich learning experiences as well as opportunities to try new technologies. I have a strong back ground in science and technology as well as in music. I hope to create an environment in my classroom where students are getting a lot of hands on learning as well the ability to move around the room to share with classmates their thoughts and ideas.  I like to make learning a fun and enjoyable experience while making it meaningful to the students. I know that we can achieve and even surpass our goals this year!

I love spending time with my family. I have four children of my own ages 16, 14, 13 and 12. We like to do all sorts of fun things together. Some of our favorite activities include bike riding, gardening, camping, swimming, and fishing. I appreciate other hobbies like scrapbooking, painting, drawing, composing music, cooking, and OF COURSE READING!
