Trimester 1 is coming to an end
Wednesday, November 28, 2012 - 9:04am
With Thanksgiving Break and the end of Tri-I, it has been a very busy couple of weeks. We have finished up our ELA unit on Summarizing and Main Ideas and are moving on to Questioning. We are continuing our study of European Explorers and the 13 Original Colonies in Social Studies. All 5th graders will get a chance to show how much they've learned this Trimester in both Math and Reading through their first benchmark assessment. I am so confident in them!   As Tri-I comes to an end, parents...

It was so nice to see everyone at conferences! Thank you to those of you who stopped by!   Our new classes are in full swing! The Smarites and the Siamangs are busy learning about Summarizing and Paraphrasing in Literacy. In Social Studies we are wrapping up our Election Unit. Less than two weeks to go! Johanna Olmstead

5th Grade
1

I have always been a learner, someone who loves to discover new things. This has been a driving factor in many parts of my life and it is also why I chose to become a teacher. I hope to instill that desire in my students, to help them discover one thing that they want to dig deeper and deeper in. My goal as a teacher is to help my students find that one interest that really opens their world to a life time of learning.

Before coming to Noble, I served with Minnesota Reading Corps working as an Elementary Literacy Tutor in the Minneapolis Public Schools. This experience gave me a great understanding of Literacy and the acqusition of Literary Skills. I am also someone who is very innovative. I enjoy the challenge of being given little and turning into something great.

I am a traveler. I love visiting a variety of places and really getting to know the essence of the place. I enjoy nature and being completely encompassed by nature. I love to hike, bike, kayak, camp, snowshoe and snowboard, mostly because those are things that are done outdoors. You will see elements of this in my teaching as I love encorporarting some of my passions into my lessons.
