Monday, May 22, 2023: Hmong-American Day

Each year on May 14, in honor of Hmong American Day, we recognize and celebrate the history, culture, contributions, and bright futures of Hmong Americans in our community. The date marks the anniversary of May 14, 1975, when Long Cheng, a U.S.-Hmong airbase in Laos, fell during the Laotian Civil War. As a result, many Hmong refugees and their families immigrated to the U.S. Today, more than 65,000 Hmong Americans live in Minnesota. As a result, the Twin Cities is home to the largest concentration of Hmong people in the U.S.
